What's In My School Beauty Bag

This week, I wanted to show you guys my school "beauty, but not really beauty" bag. Basically, these are the things that I keep on me at all times at school, so that I don't want to constantly light myself on fire. By the way, my little makeup bag is from Forever 21 because their little pouches are so cute and cheap.

The first thing I keep in my bag is some deodorant. I wear deodorant on the daily, but every once and awhile I forget to put deodorant in the morning, and I spend my whole day hating myself. I don't particularly sweat a lot, but I hate those rare days when I accidentally go to school deodorant-less, so I just always keep some in my backpack.

2. Some lip balm! I hate having chapped lips, so I always have a chapstick (or five) on me. This particular one is from Nivea and it keeps my lips nice and smooth. Also, I would like to put it out there that last week, for the first time in my life, I finished a lip balm completely. Usually I lose my lip balms before I finish them, but this time I stuck with it, and I finished one. Okay, back to the post.

3. Because I'm in Chemistry, I need to keep hair ties on me so that I can tie my hair up for lab, so that I don't literally light myself on fire with a bunsen burner. I keep all my little hair thinsg in this little tin that originally held little sugar candies that I bought in some random candy store when I was 12. Reusing yay.

4. I keep a little travel Advil with me just in case I get a leg ache, or cramps. Also, I keep some "feminine products" in my bag, but y'all don't want to see that.

5. Tissues are the definition of "essential", or at least in my school. At my lovely school, we run out of tissues about halfway through winter, or whenever the flu season starts, so homie has to bring her own. Additionally, these are good to keep on you for when you are in the bathroom, and halfway through it, you realize that there is no toilet paper in your stall. Tissues. So many uses.

6. I just keep these little band-aids in my bag just in case I get a blister, because that always seems to happen whenever I wear a new pair of shoes.

Melow Beats Playlist

This week I wanted to share my current music obsession, which is the Mellow Beats playlist from Spotify. This playlist contains hip hop instrumentals, or as I call it: vlog music, because they remind me of the songs that play in Youtube vlogs during time lapses and so forth.

For the most part, all the songs on this playlist are non-lyrical, which makes them perfect for playing while you do other tasks, such as reading or doing homework because the words don't distract you. I enjoy listening to this playlist in cars, whilst reading, or when doing math homework. This playlist can be found under the "Chill" category in Spotify, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is a master multi-taker, or just wants to chill out.

Eric Carle Exhibit

It all started with a newspaper article.

Well, not really.

Last week, the New York times posted an article about a new Eric Carle exhibit at the Montclair Art Museum. One of my favorite books growing up was Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, and I even have a copy of Carle's Dream Snow That was given to me for Christmas when I was one.

So, after hearing about the exhibit, myself, my mom, my dad, and my best friend Renee, drove an hour out to the Montclair Art Museum to see it.

Sadly, there was no photography allowed in the exhibit, so I was unable to take any photos of the artwork. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit, and I liked learning Carle's process. The way that he made his images was that he painted a pattern on a whole sheet of paper, and then cut out all the body parts of his subject, glued them together, and then added finishing touches.

Since this exhibit was meant for children, they even included a reading nook at the end where kids and their parents could sit and read some of Carle's books. Now, I am in fact NOT a child (wow, shocker), but I still thought that it was fun.
