A popular trend at the moment are adult coloring books. I've only heard of these as of a few weeks ago when I stumbled across them in Michael's, and I thought that they were so cool. After that, I did not give them much thought until I saw two of them under the tree on Christmas morning. I fell in love with this particular book titled The Time Garden by Daria Song. This book follow the storyline of a little girl being transported to a land inside of her grandfather clock, and how she tries to escape back to the real world.
I like to color these books while I listen to music, or watch T.V. and Youtube. But, here's my warning: the drawings in these books are extremely detailed, and require a large amount of time to complete. This first image of the clock took me an entire afternoon (Also, I'd like to mention that the backgrounds take 5ever, and are extremely infuriating). Below are some of the images in the book that are finished, in the process, or blank.
So as you can see, these books are a perfect combination of fun and frustration! I know that the reason behind this trend was that it's suppose to help you relax and de-stress, but for me personally, I think that these books made me more stressed than I was when I started. The practically microscopic spaces are sometimes impossible to color without going outside the lines, but I find myself unable to stop because I hate leaving something unfinished.
But, overall, I think these are very entertaining, and I will continue to use mine. So, grab a pencil and start coloring!
Thanks for reading!
