What's In My Makeup Bag
Thursday, November 19, 2015
To start off this blog, I decided my first post would be to tell you what is in my everyday makeup bag. In order from bottom to the top of the photo, here's what I put on my face!
1. L'oreal Pencil Perfect Self Advancing Eyeliner in Cocoa: I like to wear eyeliner on my top lash line to make my lashes look thicker. This eyeliner is in a dark brown color I prefer wearing brown eyeliner to black because I feel like if you make a mistake, it's not as noticeable. Or at least I like to tell myself that when trying to line my eyes at 6 am when the sun hasn't even risen yet. While perpetually messing up such a simple task, I comfort myself by saying, "As long as you get the essence of makeup." I like that this eyeliner twists up instead of needing to be sharpened because as I said before, 6 am, and I don't really feel like buying a special sharpener for my eyeliner.
2. Elf Eyelid Primer in Sheer (I wasn't able to find the product link so here's a similar product): Before putting on eye shadow, I like to prime my eyelids so that my shadow lasts longer and does not crease. It puts a sheer wash of color over your lids that helps conceal the veins on your eyelid. This primer is very inexpensive, so the wear time is not as long as something you would get at Sephora, but it does the job if your only going to be out for a couple hours.
3. Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in Walking On Eggshells: I don't wear eye shadow often, only really when I'm going somewhere important, but when I do I go for this little trio. These shadows are SUPER pigmented and stay on the lids for a long time considering the price ($3!!! My kinda makeup!). I like to put the shimmery champagne color all over my eyelids and highlight my inner corner, and the center of my lid with the top browbone color. Because both of those shadows are so pigmented, I like to put a more matte color in my crease, so I don't really use the brown crease color in this ensemble.
4. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Traparent: I use this powder to set my concealer so that it stays on my face for longer so that people don't see my under eye bags. Yay makeup!!! This powder does its job well and minimizes my pores in s well.
5. Revlon Lash Potion Volume and Length Mascara in Black Noir: This mascara is a new obsession for me. It does indeed lengthen and volumize my lashes as the name says, but I like that it doesn't make my lashes clump together. This mascara really fans out my lashes and makes me look on fleek.
6. Kiko Infinity Eyeshadow in Mat Desert Sand: For a long time I was searching for a medium matte brown eyeshadow. I found myself completely unable to spend $15-$25 on a single eyeshadow at Sephora, because why, but one day I found a Kiko store in the Palisades mall in New Jersey. I fell in love with the shadow (and the price lol) and immediately bought it. I like to pop this color in my crease when wearing the shimmery champagne eye I mentioned earlier. This shadow is also great for setting my eyeliner so that it lasts longer and lining the lower lash line if you use an angled eye liner brush. You might sense a theme here where I look for long wearing products because I hate touching up makeup and I want a no-fuss deal where I can put it on in the morning and look semi-decent before I take it off before bed.
7. Revlon Lash Curler: I love curling my eyelashes because I really makes my eyes pop and seem more open, and these ones from the drugstore do the job well.
8. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair: I use this concealer to cover up any spots that I have at the moment and this concealer matches me well. It has great coverage, but I don't like to wear it under the eyes because it sits on the skin a little heavily for me.
9. Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher Mascara in Very Black: When I first tried this mascara, I did not like it because it was too natural. But, I soon realized that this mascara is great for layering on top other mascaras and going on the bottom lashes. It does get rid of clumps, really separates my lashes, and the curve of the wand makes for easy application on my bottom lashes. The wand shape really grips my bottom lashes and enhances them without making them look too clumpy and intense.
10. L'Oreal Paris Brow Stylist Plumper in Transparent: My eyebrows have a mind of their own sometimes because the hairs tend to curl up or down so I need a good eyebrow gel to set them in place. I have quite bushy eyebrows but this gel helps tame them.
my skin in the early morning of the hours sounds horrifying and I'm just not about that life.
We made it!!!!! There was a look into my makeup bag and all the products I use to look like a functioning human being. Just in case you were wondering my makeup bag is from the Orla Kiely collaboration with Target from about a year or two ago. I don't believe they make this specific bag but here is a link for the ones that they currently have from that collection.
Thank you all for reading!
